Mental Health Statistics
Mental health problems affect 1 in 4 people in Scotland
(SAMH – Scottish Association for Mental Health, Jan 2022)
- Higher rate of mental health in deprived areas and with unemployed people.
- There are twice as many women than men go to their GP’s regarding mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. However the suicide rate within men is three times higher.
- Around 1 in 8 Scots (12%) take an antidepressant every day.
